Hi! I'm Nick. I am a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX. Pursuing a BS in Mass Communication & Public Relations and minoring in Political Science.
Currently, I'm living my best life (just as Oprah would want) as the Student Manager at Texas State's Office of Retention Management and Planning, and I serve as the Texas State University representative of the San Marcos Youth Commission to help make my community better. When I'm not following Oprah's life motto, I'm either drinking a Topo Chico, or listening to Rihanna, or probably both.
I've previously worked at The University Star as a news reporter, presided over College Democrats at Texas State University, organized & oversaw 30 chapters as President of Texas College Democrats, attended Austin City Council Meetings, crafted social media content and press releases as the City of Austin's Media Relations intern, spent eight years doing musical theatre with Kids Who Care Musical Theatre, oh, and scooped custard!
LGBTQ Youth HomelessnessWriting for Public Relations Spring 2017
For my Writing for Public Relations class each student was required to pick a topic that is important to them. From that topic, each student created a semester long project collecting research, launching a survey, and curating a media kit to to mimic a PR campaign.
I chose LGBTQ Youth Homelessness, because of the impact and importance of this issue. Over 40 percent of youth experiencing homelessness in the United States self-identify as LGBTQ. This project focused on resources and advocacy focused in Austin.

As Student Manager for the Retention Management & Planning office, one of my duties is to assist staff with creating marketing materials for our programs. Every year RMP produces Family Weekend in the fall and Family Day in the spring. For the spring 2017 Family Day, I was tasked with creating the marketing materials for the event including social media graphics, the poster, program, name badge, and faculty bios.
For the materials I used a combination of Indesign, Photoshop and Canva.

Present PR (our group name for our PR Research class) focused our semester long project on how brands and consumers interact with each other on social media.
Through the five months of our project we explored past research on our topic by writing literature reviews, crafted three research questions, and gathered our own data by launching a survey.
